MICAH learns quickly. Anyone would tell you he’s a genius. Only he knows it’s a lie. Curse or gift, Micah’s blood itches with memories he never earned. When a stranger confronts him, Micah must decide to accept his disturbing nature and pursue a life of mythical possibility, or abandon his heritage and embrace normality to have a chance at love with Wynn, his best friend and lifelong crush.
TYLWYNN only lets Micah call her Wynn, hoping he'll see her as more than a friend someday, and not just in her dreams. Though dreaming is definitely Wynn’s thing. When she realizes her visions often predict the future with ominously vivid details, she’s thrown into a maze of choices, each turn leading to Micah’s death. Can she unravel the twisting threads of destiny to save him, and what will it cost her?

1. The magic system is good, please for the love of books, take it away from this story and do something better with it.
2. It should have leaned into parody or serious teen romance. I could have been laughing, instead I was cringing and getting nothing for my trouble.
3. Winn and the other chick are the most "woman written by a man" I've ever encountered.
4. In all fairness, this isn't my genre. There was nothing wrong with the technical writing, it was clear. Certain descriptions and plot choices frustrated me.
There was so much potential.
I'll start by saying tonally, youth romance isn't my genre, but the plot and character work were solid. I had a lot of fun in this world. The characters are believable and interesting. It's a fresh take on the "what if magic were real" side of fantasy that stays grounded. I love that it's set in a real place in Florida, tho maybe I'm biased because I was born there, ha. Books are meant to be fun, and this one gets that.
I beta read this book and was struck by the author's ability to breathe new life into familiar folklore concepts. The characters are clever and believable, the stakes feel real, and the possibilities for where the story might evolve from here kept my mind going for weeks. 10/10.
