The first book did a good job laying the groundwork, and Wither delivers a sold second entry in the series. I found myself thinking of these characters as my friends in the real world, which is not something that happens to me often. I love the aspirational heroes, as well as the grounding in reality of people being flawed. Micah, Tylwynn, Lucy, and James all really try to do the right things despite their challenges and their flaws. It passes the, "did I stay up late reading because I was genuinely interested in what happens next?" test. Its a fun book.
I was a beta reader for this novel and I wholeheartedly recommend it. The character development and plotlines in this book all flow together towards a very satisfying conclusion that still manages to leave you wanting more. The quality of the writing is top-notch and the magic gets some fascinating development in this follow-up to Bloom. You won't regret reading this one!
Book two comes out swinging, and does not disappoint! Incredible continuation from his first book (which if you haven't read, is a MUST.) His story and characters are so relatable in their sheer teenage-human-nature that you feel like you have lived some of their very feelings regardless for their unique situations! Best story that I have read in a long time.
